Learn Music in a Welcoming, Supportive Environment

Hi, I’m Sage, a classically trained, award-winning guitarist with over a decade of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. I offer lessons for guitar, piano, and bass, both in-person and online, using a teaching style that blends my formal education from CSU Chico with personalized methods I’ve developed throughout my teaching career.

In addition to teaching privately, I also instruct guitar and direct the jazz band at Simpson University as an adjunct instructor. This role has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of students, helping me refine my approach to teaching and deepening my understanding of music education.

I’m passionate about making music accessible to everyone, no matter your background, skill level, or musical preferences. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming environment where you can learn and grow at your own pace.

I teach in-person at my studio in Red Bluff, CA, and online through Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Meet, so you can choose what works best for you.

Music is such an important part of life, and I believe learning should be a joyful experience. I always come prepared, on time, and ready to help you reach your goals—whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to refine your skills.

If you’re ready to start your musical journey, I’d love to work with you. Book a lesson today, and let’s make music together!

+ What ages do you teach?

  • I teach all ages! I've had students as young as 90 and as old as 6! All age groups present their own challenges when learning, but I strongly believe anyone can learn music with practice.

  • Young children, ages 3-6, sometimes are not developmentally equipped to handle music lessons yet, but their interest can be nurtured at home! Taking lessons yourself can help you learn how to incorporate music into your child's growth.

If you do not see your style here, ask about it during your free consultation

  • My rates start at $25 per lesson.

A complete list of my rates can be found Here

+ Where should I buy my first instrument?

  • I recommend all of my in-person clients purchase their instrument from Dan Massie at the Gold Exchange in Red Bluff. All guitars, basses, and ukuleles bought at the Gold Exchange come with free repairs on any structural issues. This includes things like truss rod adjustments, bridge saddle adjustments and fret leveling.

+ Should I buy an instrument online?

  • As a beginner, buying a keyboard online is a great choice! I am happy to provide some affordable suggestions if you aren't sure where to start.
  • I recommend purchasing guitars, basses, and ukuleles in person. This gives you much better chances of purchasing an instrument that is set up well! If you live in the Red Bluff area, I suggest buying from Dan Massie at the Gold Exchange. Dan and I have been working together for my entire teaching career and he has set up countless instruments for my students at a fraction of the competitors cost!

+ What do I need for online lessons?

  • For all online lessons, you will want to have your instrument, a camera, a mic, and a reliable internet connection.

  • For electric guitar and electric bass you will want the above plus an amp.

+ "I just want to learn a song or solo, can you teach me that?"

  • I transcribe new music almost daily and will happily teach you any song you are interested in! If the music turns out to be too difficult, I'll either give simplified suggestions or an alternative song in a similar style.
